Welcome to birdro.com!
My husband Mark and I live in eastern Tennessee with our beautiful baby girl, Amelia. We also share our lives with a lab(ish) goofball of a dog named Shelby.

Ok, so I’m not at the library any more – I’m a stay-at-home-mom! Amelia and I spend our days together reading books, playing with toys, running errands (she’s a trooper), meeting Mark for lunch, and cleaning the house (no fun but it has to be done). She is such a joy!
Mark
Mark now has his degree. He still works with the local pharmacy, still makes me laugh, still fixes all things electronic, and is a wonderful father.
Amelia
Amelia was born on December 23, 2008, and she brightens our lives in so many ways! Lately this blog has been all about her, and you can learn a bit more about Amelia by reading through the archives from the past few months.
Shelby
Shelby is a wonderful “mommy” to Amelia. I think she acclimated pretty well, once she got over the initial shock of having a strange new “puppy” in the house. See this post for more info (and pictures)!
***END EDIT***

I’m currently working at the local public library. I love reading, and I figured that this was the perfect job for me – I was right! One might think that the library is a boring place to work…all of the “shush-ing” and librarians wearing horn-rimmed glasses and such. Not so. Although there are positive and negative aspects of working here (just as with every job), overall it’s an extremely fun place to work! We have regular patrons who we look forward to visiting with, and we have regular patrons who we want to run and hide from. There’s not one day that goes by in which NOTHING out of the ordinary happens here. Why, just this morning, we had a patron get stuck in the elevator.
Mark
Mark is a computer programmer working for a local pharmacy (although he’s actually not finished with school yet). He’ll go back to school later this month, and graduate in May with a B.A. in Computer Science. He keeps me happy and always knows what to do to make me laugh. He’s a big kid at heart! If there is anything electronic that needs fixing, Mark’s the man to see. He’s my gadget-guru!
Shelby
Shelby is our one year old black lab mix. We got her a the local animal shelter last November – she was a pitiful 4-month old ball of black fuzz. She had a nasty scar above her right eye, and it turns out that she and her litter mates were found abandoned in a parking lot. When volunteers form the shelter showed up to claim them, one of the pups was already dead. Mark and I think Shelby was abused early on in her life, because it took a lot of love and patience to get her comfortable around people. Now she’s a healthy 30 lbs and she’s our little joy! She loves her toys, and carries them all over the house – even going so far as to put all of her “babies” in the sunshine. Often there’s a big pile of Shelby’s toys right in front of the sliding glass door! Mark and I love our little girl, and we are so happy that we were able to give her a wonderful home!
