Welcome to birdro.com!
My husband Mark and I live in the southeast U.S. with our beautiful two year-old, Amelia. We also share our lives with a lab(ish) goofball of a dog named Shelby.
While I was making baby food this morning, I put Amelia on her playmat and she sat playing with her toys for about 20 minutes. After a while, I got down on the floor and started making goofy faces.
It’s not the best quality photo, but it’s my new favorite. When she’s thinks I am doing something particularly funny, Amelia smiles with a big open-mouth, and scrunches her nose up while squinting her eyes. It is adorable, and the best part . . . she is imitating me! I think it’s so amazing to watch her grow and learn by observing the world around her.
Now, to understand the title of this post, you’ll have to watch this video. I think that Amelia is on the verge of crawling – most of the time she hates being on her belly, but when she is sitting up she is always reaching for something that is just out of her grasp.
OF COURSE she had to miss her soft & padded play mat and do a face plant onto the hardwood floor. OF COURSE. Twenty seconds of crying, a quick cuddle from mama, and she was ready to do it all over again. I guess I am going to have to get used to bumps and bruises – no matter how hard I try, I can’t be there to catch her every time she falls. It’s a good thing kids are resilient!

Gretchen has just recently learned to sit and it’s AMAZING to see her in this new position.
So sweet!
I love her playmat.
That is pretty much how Lily crawls. I have been so afraid of her doing a face plant and getting hurt and it finally hapened yesterday about 20 minutes before Daddy get home. She now has a red bump under her right eye. Its so sad.
Poor dear! I hope she heals quickly. One of our friends has a little boy and he has a HUGE purple knot on his head right now. He has just started walking, and it tumbling all over the place. That is definitely one part of crawling/walking that I am not looking forward to!
