Welcome to birdro.com!
My husband Mark and I live in the southeast U.S. with our lovely daughters, Amelia and Florence. We also share our lives with a lab(ish) goofball of a dog named Shelby.
On Saturday morning while I was getting my hair cut, Mark and Amelia ran a few errands together. They picked up My First Read and Learn Bible, and came back to the hair salon to read while they waited for me to finish. Once I was done we went to buy some shrink & seal window insulation. With the temperatures dropping, our house (and Amelia’s room in particular) is getting pretty chilly at night even though we are running the heat. We’re hoping that the window insulation will help keep the temperatures regulated.
When we got home, Amelia emptied her bookshelf while Mark insulated her bedroom window. Making messes is so much fun!
On Sunday we went to Natural Tunnel State Park.
Amelia got to take her first ride on a chairlift! Mark tried everything he could think of to get her to look at the camera, but she was too busy looking at everything else. What a ride!
Once we got off the lift we heard a train whistle. Mark snapped a quick shot of Amelia’s grin before we ran down to the tracks.
We arrived just in time to see the train coming through the tunnel – the engineer waved at Amelia and she waved back!
I’m so fortunate to have a hubby who is such a great photographer. Since I’m behind the camera most of the week, taking pictures of Amelia, it’s wonderful to be able to get some pictures that feature me as well!
After we watched the train pass, we walked down to this great wooden bridge so Amelia could look at the river.
When we got back up to the parking lot we took some fun pictures on an old train engine. Amelia wanted to touch and taste everything.
One of our main purposes for going up to Natural Tunnel was to get some pictures of Amelia playing in the leaves. Amelia had a great time playing, and Mark was able to capture some wonderful photos. The lovely sweater Amelia is wearing was handmade by our friend, Lydia.
Here’s my favorite picture from the day – I just love those two!

Oh, Amanda, these pictures are just beautiful. You have such an amazing family, and Amelia just looks darling in that sweater. It was nice seeing you the other day. Take care!
Oh my gosh…hadn’t visited your blog in awhile. I can’t believe Amelia is standing already. The natural tunnel looks like so much fun. Amelia is beautiful. And that sweater looks so perfect on her! So glad it fits her in the right season.
