Weekend Wrap Up

November 15th, 2009

Friday was quite an eventful day . . . Amelia’s 4th and 5th teeth (left central incisor and right lateral incisor) teeth popped through! My poor dear was having a rough time with them, that’s for sure. By breakfast I knew they would make their appearance within hours – Amelia would take a bite a bite, cry, swallow her food, cry, then open her mouth for more food – this went on the entire meal. Our day was much better once those pesky teeth broke through her gums during her morning nap!

Friday evening as I was giving Amelia her bath Shelby was pacing back and forth in front of the bathroom door. I told her she could come in, and she just pranced right up to the tub and jumped in!

On Saturday we had Grandma and Grandpa B over to watch the UT game. Amelia was in a great mood, and had a lot of fun making funny faces!

On Sunday after church we met Grandma and Grandpa B for lunch. A few baby gifts had been left at our old church, and they kindly picked them up and brought them along.

The gifts were quite a shock. They are from a very special family friend, Marie, who recently passed away from cancer – her family found them while they were going through her things.  One of the gifts is a doll dressed in a bunny suit, aptly named Funny Bunny. Amelia took to this special bunny right away, and has hardly let go of it since.

Marie was Mark’s first Sunday School teacher at our old church, and while he was growing up Mark spent his summers doing yard work for Marie and her husband. Although Marie never had children of her own, she said that if she had ever had a son, she hoped he would have been like Mark. Marie had such a wonderful spirit, and was one of the most genuine people I have ever known. Even though she was never able to meet Amelia, we know she would have absolutely loved our daughter. We miss you, Marie, and we will be sure to tell Amelia all about you.
