Weekend Wrap Up

March 14th, 2010

On Friday afternoon Amelia ate her snack on the front porch. She has recently developed a fondness for birds, and loves to listen to their songs and watch them flit through the trees. After she finished eating, we dropped by the library and then stopped by the store to pick up some birdseed.

On Saturday morning we sprinkled some birdseed on our porch railings and along the sidewalk. Throughout the morning we peeped through the windows to see if there were any little birdies munching on our seeds. We had a few takers, but Shelby’s barking scared them away. Shelby doesn’t bark that often, but this morning she was quite vocal. When Mark went to see what was causing her to act so out of character, he saw a little squirrel digging in the mulch! The little guy looked as if he was raiding the last of his winter stash of acorns – how neat! After Amelia woke up from her nap, we went outside to look for birds.  We’re hoping that if we keep leaving birdseed scattered about, the birds will gather their courage and gobble it up!

On Sunday afternoon I caught a picture of this little guy munching on our birdseed. I also saw a few finches and cardinals, but they flew away before I could get a good picture. Mark and Amelia played outside for a while before supper – our little girl LOVES walking around, looking for birds and playing with her reflection!!!

    Amelia,
You are such a doll baby. I love watching you explore and discover things around you. Hopefully, there will be a birdhouse soon in your yard so that you can watch the pretty birds come around. That may keep Mr. Squirrel out of the bird seed. Enjoy your birdwatching! We love you, sweetheart.
