Blessings

I’ll be honest – the last few days have been pretty rough. Amelia is getting some new teeth and she has been pretty hard to please. She hasn’t wanted to nap and hasn’t wanted to eat – she wants to cuddle and play but then gets frustrated with me when her gums start hurting. Medicine and teething tablets only help for a little while, and the pain comes back before she can have another dose. I wish there was more I could do to help her.

I’ll admit that my patience has been worn very thin these past few days. I had a doctor’s appointment this afternoon and I couldn’t wait for Mark to come home so I could get out of the house and be by myself for a bit. It’s got to be pretty bad when you long for a quiet waiting room and hope that the doctor is running behind schedule so that you can read a few chapters in your book!

Motherhood is hard. It is most definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it is also – without a doubt – the most rewarding as well. Every day I realize how fortunate I am to share my days with this sweet little person, but sometimes that realization can get lost in the day-to-day shuffle. It’s on days like today that I need to take a step back and count my blessings. She is so beautiful, inside and out; I am so thankful that I have been blessed with the gift of motherhood!
