Welcome to birdro.com!
My husband Mark and I live in the southeast U.S. with our beautiful two year-old, Amelia. We also share our lives with a lab(ish) goofball of a dog named Shelby.
On Friday evening we went to a surprise birthday party for Grandma B! Grandpa held the party at Good Daylillies and it was a lot of fun – nobody could believe that Grandma’s co-workers kept the party a secret! The weather was VERY warm, so everyone drank a bunch of water to stay cool. Amelia was so proud of herself for drinking out of her own water bottle, even though she spilled about half of it down the front of her shirt! (I had to include the 2nd picture just because it makes me laugh – that is a champion’s whiny face!) We actually took quite a few more pictures, but since I’m not sure that everyone would want their faces plastered all over the internet, I’m not going to post them.
On Saturday morning we packed Amelia’s bag and took her up to Grandma & Grandpa’s house. While we were making sure that we had all of her things, she grabbed her sunglasses and put them on all by herself – she was so proud! Mark and I left Amelia with Grandma and then went to look for a new place to live. Last week Mark accepted an offer to do systems administration, specializing in VMWare (yay Mark! I’m so proud of you!) and this new job is about 45 minutes away from where we live now. So, we spent all day Saturday looking for apartments/condos/houses for rent and didn’t find anything that met our requirements. After about six hours of house hunting we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa’s house, where Amelia had been serenading them on the piano. I think we need to invest in some music lessons for our little girl!
On Sunday morning Mark and Amelia took Shelby outside and then came to tell me that my San Ignacio daylily was blooming! It is so beautiful, and it was a great way to start the day. Grandma and Grandpa came over for lunch, and then stayed with Amelia while Mark and I did some more house hunting. After Amelia woke up from her nap Grandma and Grandpa took her up to their house, where she learned a new word! She was out examining their garden and when she was shown a tiny green pepper, she said “pepper”. Way to go, Amelia! She still hasn’t said it for me or Mark, but we’re sure she’ll show off for us soon!
So, we ended the weekend with no real leads on a new place to live. We’ll find something, though – God brought us this new job and He will bring us a new home as well!
