Dear Florence,

Today you are three months old! Sweet girl, it is so hard for me to believe that you are this old already, and yet it seems that you have always been with us.  You have such an easygoing personality and you brighten up any room. Everybody comments on how sweet and beautiful you are, and I can’t help but agree! You absolutely ADORE your older sister. Whenever you hear Amelia you turn your head to look at her, and your eyes always follow her through the room as she plays. I am so excited to see your relationship with Amelia develop! The two of you are already fast friends.

You still have beautiful blue eyes and lots of brown hair. You also seem to have grown a hint of a dimple on your chin! In your last monthly letter I wrote that I wouldn’t be surprised if you were 11 pounds at your two month checkup . . . you weighed in at 12 pounds and were 24 inches long! You are my chunky monkey and I love your chubby cheeks and rubber band wrists. I had you sitting in the Bumbo a few weeks ago and when I went to lift you up out of it your thighs got stuck! It is so wonderful to see you growing and changing day by day. You are still wearing 3-6 month clothes, but some of the onesies and sleepers are getting a bit short. You are growing so quickly! You still are sleeping through the night – most of the time you go to sleep around 7 or 8 and then wake up between 5 and six to eat and then are up for the day at 7 or 7:30. When you are having trouble going to sleep you like to squish your face between your hands – you put one hand on your forehead and one hand on your ear and squeeze!

You coo all day long, and it is such a lovely sound to hear! You get very vocal when we leave your sight, and most of the time you are content to sit and watch the world around you! Amelia loves to do “tummy time” with you, which is wonderful because she gives you something to look at! You are getting better at holding your head up for longer periods of time, and you enjoy sitting in the Bumbo while we are outside with Amelia or while I am cooking supper.

When I was pregnant with you one of the things I did with Amelia to prepare her for your arrival was to have her pick out a blankie for you. She picked out a lavender and gray one (and of course I bought two so as to have a spare) and she was so excited to give it to you. It was all we could do to stop her from throwing it into your crib as soon as we brought you home! Just like your sister, you LOVE your blankie. We give it to you when you are in your bouncer and it will instantly calm you. You grab it and bring it up to your face and rub it all over your nose and cheeks. Amelia is so proud of you when she sees you with that blankie!

Sweet Floey, we love you so much and are so glad that you joined our family. Your little voice adds such a lovely sound to our lives, and we are incredibly thankful for you and the light that you bring.

Love, Mommy
