Once I unwrapped it I found a beautiful and delicate and absolutely perfect diamond necklace! It was a “just because” gift – isn’t he the best? I normally wear another diamond necklace that he gave me, but it’s medium-sized pendant is extremely interesting to a certain baby girl. The new necklace has a tiny diamond pendant, just enough to toss out some sparkle – it’s small enough that it won’t immediately attract Amelia’s attention, and it is the perfect size for me. Mark told me that the sales lady tried to talk him into something bigger and flashier, but he stood firm in his decision and told her that I would prefer something small, simple, and elegant. He knows me so well!

All of that was to say that this morning Amelia is still playing with the red bow that was wrapped around my gift. She loves it!

Amelia was born on a Tuesday. First time mom that I am, I already have hundreds (OK, thousands) of pictures of my little one, but I always make sure to take a picture of her every Tuesday. I have started a collection of these photos for her, and in lieu of a traditional baby book I plan on having a photo book made with all of her Tuesday pictures and all of my monthly letters from her first year. This is today’s picture.

Behold my new Keurig Coffee Maker! It’s an amazing machine, especially since I am the only coffee drinker in our household. Any time, day or night, I can have a piping hot freshly brewed cup of coffee (or tea or hot cocoa) in less than a minute!

To use this marvel of kitchen electrical appliances, simply pop in a K-Cup, place your coffee cup on the removable drip tray, and press a button to start brewing. There is even a 48 oz. water reservoir that will give me 5 cups of coffee before I have to refill! Gone are the mornings of washing out the coffeepot and dealing with the coffee grounds. All I have to do is pop in a K-Cup!

One of the best things about this coffee maker is the reusable “My K-Cup” that enables you to use your own gourmet coffee instead of purchasing K-Cups. Genius!

(My Keurig was an anniversary gift from my very sweet husband. Thanks Honey- it’s perfect!)

Well, let me clarify – while we were out on the town today, we found good deals on the ‘big’ presents we were going to get each other for Christmas. These deals were so good that we couldn’t pass them up – and instead of buying the items and waiting 2 months, we gifted each other today!

Mark got me an 8 GB iPod touch!!!

It offers a 3.5 inch widescreen display along with wi-fi web browsing. I can put all of my music on it (audiobooks as well!), and I can also keep track of my schedule and my contacts (it syncs with Microsoft Outlook). I love my new toy – I’m putting songs on it right now!!!

I got Mark an Xbox 360, along with the game Halo 3!!!

He’s just had so much going on with school and work lately, and I wanted to get him something that he’d really enjoy. I also got him a 1-year membership to Xbox LIVE, so he can connect with his other buddies and play live with them. He’s playing it right now, and he’s having a blast!!!

Back in May, he (along with his (now) wife and the rest of the bridal party) filled our car with balloons. We just HAD to reciprocate!!! We filled their limo with about 150 balloons!

Revenge!!!
The groom had to scoop out quite a few balloons just to get his bride into the limo!

It was a wonderful wedding, and we had a blast – we were so glad to have been able to be a part of it! Best wishes to the bride and groom!!!

Our new neighbors were on their back porch chatting away. Their porch shares a wall with our bedroom. I could hear just about every word of their early-morning conversation!

Me: [Whispering] Mark, do you hear that?

Mark: [Mumbling] I’m ignoring them.

[A few minutes go by - I'm having a hard time ignoring the neighbors.]

Me: [Whispering again] Mark, I can’t ignore them. Do you think I should go outside with Shelby and tell them that their porch shares a wall with our bedroom? They might not know that we can hear them. Or they might not realize they’re being so loud. It might be weird, though, if the first time I meet them is at 3AM and I’m in my PJ’s. What do you think?

Mark: [Sits up in bed and bangs on the wall. The neighbors suddenly get very quiet.]

And then we both went back to sleep.

This is Shelby right after we brought her home from the shelter. Does the nail polish bottle (or for that matter, the crumbled up puppy treat) show you how small she was? We thought she hated us – she slept for about eight hours once we brought her home, and whenever she woke up, she’d cower in fear whenever we tried to get near her. It took her a while, but we are so glad she warmed up to us!
