Amelia got her birthday gift a few months early this year! Mark and I decided to give her a Radio Flyer trike so that she (and we!) can enjoy it while the weather is so nice. One of the rough things about having a birthday two days before Christmas is that you can’t really go out and ride your brand new trike in the snow and ice. She already loves it, and Mark and I are thrilled that she is enjoying it so much!

September in Review

September 30th, 2011

This month was full and busy! We made airplanes, had a visit from Grandma and Grandpa, visited the farmer’s market, did yard work and went to the zoo! We also welcomed the first day of Autumn by splashing around in the rain, fully dressed. September was filled with lots of laughter and love.

August in Review

August 31st, 2011

Well, this month was a big month for us – we bought our first house! We moved in about 2.5 weeks ago and love that we have a place we can truly call our own. Our families have been a big help, and we are overwhelmingly thankful and grateful for their generosity and support during this very stressful time.  Amelia adores her purple room (already painted purple by the previous owners!) and she loves the huge yard as well. She even has a swing-set in the back yard! She enjoys helping her daddy fix things around the house and she has really blossomed in this new environment. It is so wonderful to be able to turn up the music and dance and stomp and run around and have tickle-fights and not have to worry about bothering the neighbors with loud shrieks of laughter!

The first four pictures were taken around our old apartment, and the rest were taken around our new house!

Toddler Funnies

July 14th, 2011

One day I asked Amelia to help me do some laundry – I asked her to get the towels from the bathrooms. She came back with one small hand towel, tossed it into the washing machine, drew her hand across her forehead and said “whew” like she had just run a marathon! She does it often (the “whew”) and I’m not sure where she learned that little trick. It makes me laugh every time!

One day recently Amelia went through four outfit changes and six shoe changes, not because she needed to, but because she wanted to. The most notable outfit was a pair of my heels with her frilly apron! Another favorite outfit is a just a shirt, diaper and pink cowgirl boots!

Amelia loves strawberries, but she will ONLY eat them if they are whole. If they are sliced or even if I have taken off too much of the stem she will not touch them.

Amelia’s favorite book is Go, Train, Go!, and the reason she likes it so much is that Thomas drives through some mud and gets dirty. Each night before bed she says she wants to read the “yuck” book!

Amelia thinks it is extremely funny to take her shoes off and shove her feet towards my nose. I pretend to sniff and then scrunch up my face and say “PEE YOU!” – she laughs and laughs and laughs!
